journey is excited to welcome Triple Helical Peptides to Co-Labs by journey, a lab-enabled workspace in Cambridge offering fitted wet lab and office space alongside a shared community of life-science and deep-tech companies.

Triple Helical Peptides is a Cambridge-based biotechnology company specialising in synthetic collagen-mimetic peptides. The company combines decades of scientific expertise with the development of innovative research tools for biomedical science. Its products support researchers worldwide in areas including platelet biology, cell–matrix interactions, biomaterials and drug discovery.

Establishing its laboratory at Co-Labs by journey has been an important step in expanding the company’s research and development capabilities. Finding suitable and affordable laboratory space in Cambridge is a challenge for smaller, research-driven companies, and Co-Labs offers an excellent combination of flexible facilities, shared resources and a collaborative scientific environment.

Triple Helical Peptides was co-founded by Professor Richard Farndale (formerly of the Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge) and Dr Arkadiusz Bonna. It builds directly on more than two decades of research from the Farndale group at Cambridge, which pioneered the synthesis of Collagen Related Peptides — including CRP-XL, now a standard reagent in platelet GPVI research used globally — and the Collagen Toolkits, overlapping peptide libraries that map binding sites across native collagens.

That underlying research programme was supported over many years by major UK funders, including the Medical Research Council, the British Heart Foundation and the Wellcome Trust, and was submitted by the University of Cambridge as a REF impact case study — the UK’s national research-quality framework — in recognition of its international reach in cardiovascular science and reagent supply.

"The approachable and supportive Co-Labs team has helped us establish our laboratory and focus our resources on what matters most — advancing our technology, developing new products and building scientific collaborations. Being part of Cambridge's vibrant biotechnology community is particularly valuable to us. We highly recommend Co-Labs by journey to innovative companies looking for a supportive environment in which to develop their ideas and grow."
