Drop-Code is the latest company to take up residency at Co-Labs by journey

DropCode is creating a platform for ultra-high throughput enzyme activity screening, in order to create training data for the next generation of protein function prediction models.

We are excited to watch their venture grow and assist them with fitted urban lab space in Cambridge’s start-up ecosystem. Co-labs by journey provides fitted lab and office space, so early-stage companies can move in straight away and focus on their science. You can find out more about our space here.

“Co-Labs has been a joy to be a part of. Laura and Yasmin are very supportive in making sure we have all that we need so that DropCode can thrive and scale to be the data engine for protein engineering. We are very happy with the quality of the space, and to be a part of what feels like the best lab space in Cambridge"

Dr Elliot J Medcalf, CEO

DropCode has developed a technology that addresses one of the biggest challenges in droplet microfluidics: the inability to link the contents of individual droplets to corresponding functional readouts. Solving this challenge unlocks the use of droplet microfluidics for large-scale data acquisition for protein function prediction, personalised medicine, and more – and enables the acquisition of a sufficient amount of data to train deep learning models orders of magnitude cheaper and faster than traditional methods.

The company raised a pre-seed round led by J12 Ventures, and has secured a contract from one of the leading pharma companies in the US.
