NANOPLUME is a UK- and US-based advanced biomaterials company focused on reinventing thermal insulation materials. We pursue this by scaling the manufacture of the world’s lightest, thinnest, and best insulating material – Bio-Aerogel. NANOPLUME’s technology reduces costs by 75%, making the super-insulating biomaterial accessible to the built environment and other industries, dramatically increasing energy efficiency, space efficiency, and circularity.
The three co-founders have backgrounds in chemical engineering (2x PhD) and business (1x MBA) from Cambridge, Stanford, and Warwick and experience in industrial scale-up of advanced biomaterials (+10 years), strategy consulting (BCG) and development of early-stage hardware businesses.
NANOPLUME was incorporated in June 2024 and is backed by prestigious investors like SOSV IndieBio, Marvelous Deep Tech VC, Carbon13, Desai Ventures and AngelInvest. NANOPLUME’s vision is a world, where energy and space are well utilised and a world, where humanity is in control of rising temperatures – to achieve this, NANOPLUME develops insulation as modern as the world we live in.
